There is no known blood relationship between
John Sillin and
Horris Wheeler. It is assumed that the newly married Horace and Mary Jane were helping the older couple with farm chores prior to relocating to Auglaize County. Once in Auglaize, Horace was living near John P. Sillin, son of John and Sarah, and it was at Horace's barn raising that William P. Morey was fatally injured. John P. Sillin was married to Hannah Patterson; Hannah sister's Rebecca was married to William P. Morey and Horace Wheeler was the nephew of William P. Morey. Almon Wheeler is believed to be the brother of Horace Wheeler, both were sons of William Wheeler and Laura Morey.

Wheeler all relinquished the right to administer Almon's estate. His personal property was sold at public auction on 26 July 1862. This researcher believes the most likely explanation is that the 1863 tombstone date was difficult to read or not transcribed accurately.
Undated Estate Inventory:2516 The final inventory of Almon Wheeler's estate includes items purchased by Horace Wheeler, several members of the Blackburn family. The inventory concludes, "This estate is probably insolvent."
