Family Remembrance:1 "Nana was the kind of a grandmother every little one would love to have. She was a loving mother whose pride in her only son knew no bounds and her grandsons were a constant source of joy to her. As a widow she came to Los Angeles in 1924 when her son and his little family moved to this area from Chicago. Being a very independent lady she earned a good living working as a practical nurse in well-to-do homes. Nana was always in demand because of her exceptional talents as a caring person. It was not until the years reminded her that it was time to take it easy did she retire. From then on she devoted all her time to her family."
1860 Birth: Birth in 1858 indicated by age (2 years) in 1860 census
416 enumeration; birth on 15 March 1859 given on death certificate

2333 as "Lucy E. Bay was born March the 15th 1860."
Based on this evidence, researcher presumes 1860 is the correct year based on: 1) Bible listing; 2) 1860 census entry may be enumerator's mistake of recording 'two months' as '2' indicating years; 3) Lucy's age in 1870 census was 10 years; and 4) the 1859 date was given by her son in 1950 and may not be reliable.1860 U.S. Census:416 Lucy enumerated in the household of her father Cyrus Bay in Union Township, Porter County, Indiana as female, age 2, born in Indiana.
