1941 Obituary:1835 "Daniel F. Bitler, 73, a retired farmer, died Friday night at his home in Olpe. He had been sick for a year. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Daniel Franklin Bitler was born October 10, 1865, at Wapakoneta, Ohio. He came to Kansas when he was six months old, with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bitler, who settled southwest of Olpe, near the present Bitler home. Mr. Bitler was married February 9, 1910 to Miss Ica A. Winter at Olpe. Mr. Bitler was active in the early history of Olpe, which then was known as Bitlertown. He was a member of the Olpe town council, from 1923 to 1939. Mr. Bitler was received into the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Olpe before his death."
