1940 Obituary:270 January 10, 1940. Funeral services have been arranged for Mrs. Nettie S. Whiteman, long connected with newspaper writing in Wapakoneta, to be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at her late residence, 507 West Pearl street. Mrs. Whiteman was a daughter of Andrew J. and Sophia McMurray Morey. She was born in Wapakoneta on April 30, 1866. She attended the grade and high schools and at an early age became associated with her uncle, the late William J. McMurray, publisher of the Auglaize Republican, as an employee in the printshop and editorial offices, and there was hardly a phase of newspaper publishing, editorial, mechanical or business, with which she had not been connected.
