Morey was born in Licking County, Ohio, February 12, 1837, and died January 25, 1909. His wife was born in Putnam County, Ohio, in 1840 and died July 4, 1878. They were married in Auglaize County."

Also residing in the household were three daughters (Mary, Netta, Jennie) and one son (William) and Sophia’s mother, Mary McMurray.
1884 Obituary:251 Mrs. Sophia Morey died at her residence in Wapakoneta, Friday morning, July 4, 1884. She was born in Auglaize County, July 16th, 1844 and was consequently at the time of her death, aged thirty nine-years, eleven months, and eighteen days. She was the only daughter of Robert and Mary McMurray, who moved to this county from Dayton, O., in the early part of the year 1844. They remained but a few months here and then moved to Campbell County, Ky., where the family lived until 1859, when they again moved to this county, located at St. Marys, Sophia McMurray being at that time fifteen years of age. In 1861 she was married to Mr. A. J. Morey, who shortly after their marriage enlisted in the Union army. Mrs. Morey continued to reside in St. Marys until Mr. Morey returned from the army after the close of the hostilities, when they moved to Wapakoneta, where they have since resided. Mrs. Morey was the only sister of the late Robert McMurray, formerly Recorder of Auglaize County, and at the time of his death Mayor of Wapakoneta, and W. J. McMurray, the present editor of this paper. She was the mother of six children, five of whom together with her husband survive her. Her eldest child and daughter, Minnie, who after her marriage with Mr. A. M. Getz last summer, moved to Marshall, Texas, returned home the first of May, since which time she devoted herself to the care of her mother. Mrs. Morey was a devoted and faithful wife, a kind and indulgent mother, and an affectionate sister. The funeral services took place at three o'clock Saturday afternoon from the English Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. A. E. Wagner, of Springfield, Ohio.
