Birth place assumed to be Franklin County, Ohio, based on the fact that Henry and Mary Baughman were living in Franklin County in 1830 and did not move to Allen County until about 1834. Birth date of 10 April 1830 estimated from age at death (33 years, 1 month, 10 days) on tombstone in St. Johns Cemetery, Union Township, Auglaize County, Ohio.

1850 U.S. Census:405 Margaret enumerated in the household of her mother Mary Baughman as female, age 20, born in Ohio.

1852 Legal Proceedings:608 Andrew Wagner, Auglaize County, purchased land from Margaret Baughman, Auglaize County, on February 21, 1852 for $100. The land " . . . being that portion of the land set off to me by the commissioners appointed to make partition in a case in which David Baughman vs. Samuel Baughman et al632 in which will appear reference being made to the proceedings in said case and which proceedings were had in the year 1851 . . . "
