The children enumerated in 1870 were Walter, age 21; Carrie, age 18; Charles, age 8; and Minnie, age 1. "Hattie" would have been about age 18 in 1870. However, "Carrie" was enumerated as age 18 and no daughter of age 14 was enumerated to correspond with Caroline, age 4 in 1860. More information is needed, but the presumption is that Caroline died and within the family Hattie acquired the nickname "Carrie."
