He died February 10, 1925 at Gladstone, Oregon. He went to Oregon in 1852 from Iowa. He settled in Douglas County, Oregon, on the Tracy Donation Land Claim which is still in the family (1966). James Monroe Tracy was the son of Caleb Ensign Tracy (1817-1897) and Lydia Minor; grandson of Caleb Ensign Sr., Ellisburg, New York, and Jefferson County near Lake Ontario, Revolutionary War soldier."
