Descendant Information

Biographical Sketch (1989):1451, p. 137-138. "They had four children:

A) Margaret married Francis Wehner, son of one of the Bavarians. They had a butcher shop in the nearby town of St. Marys.

B) Joseph married Katherine (Katie) Schipper, daughter of one of the Rhine ‘Dutch’ German immigrants. They lived on the home farm on Taylor Road. Joseph died in 1924 and Katherine in 1930. They had adopted two children who had left the Botkins area years earlier and the old farm was sold. Joseph’s cousin William lived nearby and his family often worked on shares for Joe and Katie in their later years. [Note: Hemmert’s The Story of Bavarian Immigrants has a picture of Joseph and Katie on p. 137.]

C) John married Joseph Ziegenfelder and lived on a sixty acre farm on the Auglaize-Shelby County Line, one mile north of Botkins.
