Family Remembrance:26, p. 355-356. "Holly Naus (1809-1881) married Susan Bitler (1814-1882) in Pennsylvania and with Susan's father, Samuel Bitler, drove a one-horse wagon through the forest to Columbus, Ohio about 1830 where they lived about three years. Then they moved to Union Township, Auglaize County. They cleared the forest of hickory, maple, and oak trees and built a cabin 2 miles east of the village of Uniopolis, Ohio (what is now Ohio State Highway 67) and 1/4 mile south on the east side of the road known in early pioneer days as the 'Indian Boundary Road'; this road was the eastern boundary of a 12 miles square Shawnee Indian Reservation of Auglaize County. Holly cleared the forest and farmed the land as a livelihood. Holly and Susan (Bitler) Naus had 12 children. Holly and Susan Naus and many of their descendants are buried in Fairmount Cemetery east of Uniopolis, Ohio."
