1934 Declaration for Widow’s Pension:275 State of Iowa, County of Greene. On this 27th day of April 1934, before me, the undersigned, personally appeared Catherine Morey, who makes the following declaration as an application for pension under the provisions of the acts of Congress approved May 1, 1920, July 3, 1926, or June 9, 1930. That she is 86 years of age, that she was born April 24th at Vankleek Hill, Ontario Province, Canada; that she is the widow of Martin V. Morey, enlisted Aug. 7th, 1862 at Lima, Ohio under the name of Martin V. Morey in Company K, 99th Ohio V. and was honorably discharged June 26th, 1865, having served ninety days or more, or was discanrged for, or died in service of the United States of a disability incurred in the service in the line of duty, during the Civil War, and who died March 11, 1934 at Grand Junction, Iowa; that he also served in Company K, 99th OVI until consolidated with Co. E 50th Ohio Infancltry and Gen Order to 73 Hdq. Dept. of N.C. dated June 2, 1865 and that, except as herein stated, said soldier was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States; that she was married to said soldier Jan. 28th, 1873, under the name of Catherine Forbes, at Riverside, Iowa by (do not know); that she had not been married previously, that he had not been previously married.
