Notes for Joseph MOREY Jr.
Biographical Sketch (1969):6, p. 17. "From
The History of Knox County, Ohio, by N. N. Hill (1881), it is learned that Joseph Morey was born near Rutland, Vermont December 19, 1799, and died in Milford Township of Knox County, Ohio April 9, 1880. He came first to Granville, Ohio, Licking County, in 1813, and moved across the county line a few miles into Knox County in 1827.
Searching the 1830 Federal census, it becomes obvious that this Joseph Morey must have been one of the two males between 20 and 30 years of age living in the house of Joseph Morey (Senior) who was aged between 60-65. This household, and that of Abraham Morey, age 57, in Burlington Township of Licking County were only a few miles apart."
