Biographical Sketch (1985):113 "Baughman Family of Jackson Township, Sandusky County, Ohio. David Baughman, one of ten children of Johann George and Barbara Stiehl/Steel Baughman, was born April 29, 1800, in Washington or Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He migrated to Franklin County, Ohio, in 1803 with his parents. According to Revolutionary War pension records, Johan George had served in the Revolution while in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. David married Elizabeth Canfield, a New Jersey native, April 28, 1825 in Franklin County. In 1834, David Baughman purchased by U.S. patent 80 acres in section 9 of Jackson Township. Of their ten children, several were born in Sandusky County — Edward, Charles H., Sarah Ann, Homer E., Calvin, Miranda, Warren and Orra G. The entire family moved to Kalamazoo County, Michigan, prior to 1850.
The eldest son, Edward, born in Franklin County, Dec. 9, 1825, married Elizabeth Moore, daughter of John and Mary (Picking) Moore, Oct. 1, 1848, in Sandusky County. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Augusta, Calhoun County, Michigan. Edward died there Mar. 28, 1854. His widow, Elizabeth, returned with the children to her father's farm in Woodville Township."
